Black Hole Coffee (2026)  

Coffee shop stories with a speculative twist

So much can happen over a cup of coffee. Send us your stories that have some significant part of it take place in a coffee shop.

 

All fiction genres will be considered. Sci-fi and fantasy encouraged.

Target audience: adult

 

Selected authors will receive 5 free copies of the anthology and their bio featured on our website.

​

The book will be registered with the Library of Congress and be available to purchase online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble, as well as on the shelves of a several indie bookstores in the Ithaca, NY area.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

​

  • Please send submissions by email to inquiries@inkalchemybooks.com and include the phrase “SUBMISSION: Black Hole Coffee” in your subject line.

  • Submissions will be accepted through April 30th, 2026

  • Short fiction submitted to the anthology must be original and previously unpublished.

  • All manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced and numbered throughout, with the author’s name, address, phone number, and word count at the top of the first page.

  • Word count: 5,000 min - 12,000 max

  • No AI written content will be accepted.

  • Submit only one story at a time.

  • All manuscripts must be written in English. Translations are acceptable but must be accompanied by a copy of the original text.

  • We will read and consider simultaneous submissions on the condition that if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere, the author immediately notifies us that they are withdrawing their submission. Once a submission is accepted for publication by Ink Alchemy Books, we ask that you withdraw it from other publishers.

  • Ink Alchemy Books purchases first serial rights. All rights revert to the author upon publication.

  • The editors aim to respond to manuscripts in a timely fashion and ask that you wait a minimum of four weeks to send follow-up inquiries.

  • We do not publish poetry, plays, nonfiction, reviews, etc.

  • Projected Publication Date: August, 2026

The Emerging Author's Publisher

Are you a writer who has put in the words but is having a hard time getting them printed? Have you honed your craft and are ready to send your stories out into the world? This is the publisher for you. We have high standards but are willing to give unpublished writers a shot. In fact, we are looking specifically for emerging authors so that we can offer readers new and exciting voices.
