Stories set in unusual, sometimes surreal, locations. Kyle Thompson is a writer, crafter, and miniature painter daylighting as a software developer from Corning, NY. He lives on a hill with his wife, Kim, three hyperactive herding dogs, and a grumpy black cat. He goes on adventures whenever possible.

Within 12 months of graduating from NMIT’s School of Visual Arts, Lix’s work caught the eye of revered gallerist and Auckland Art Fair founding director Jennifer Buckley, securing her an inaugural solo show at one of New Zealand’s most enduring and respected contemporary galleries, the Oedipus Rex. Three years on she became the youngest artist published in E.M. Caughey’s book ‘Art New Zealand Today’ (Saint Publishing, 2003).

Lix cites a childhood in the stunning isolation of hill country as the catalyst for her unique way of seeing the world and penchant for introspective self-portraiture. Developing a profound affinity for Brisbane, Australia in the mid 2000s, she settled there in 2007, spending the majority of the ensuing decade as a professional illustrator, photographer and commission artist under the name of her graphic art studio, Lix Creative.

Since returning her focus to conceptual fine art and exhibition in 2016, Lix has taken home the Art Lovers Australia Prize, Clayton Utz Art Award People’s Choice, a Lethbridge 10,000 Category Award and finalist positions in the Portia Geach Memorial Award and Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize.
